Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner available as a stand-alone course and an Apprenticeship.
A GUIDE TO THE QUALIFICATION

The aim of this qualification is to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding of babies and young children from birth to 7 years of age with applied knowledge in the early years, 0-5 years. Upon successful completion of this qualification learners can enter the workforce as a qualified Level 2 Early Years Practitioner or continue to study for a Level 3 Diploma holding Early Years Educator status.

This qualification is ideal for learners looking to work with children between birth and 5 years, and gain knowledge of working with children up to 7 years. Learners do not need to have previous experience or qualifications in working with children to undertake this qualification.

Duration: 6-9 months

Delivery: Blended classroom and online learning Available

Placement: During the time of their course, learners will need to be volunteering or on practical placement to show competence in both knowledge and skills. We recommend learners complete 250 placement hours whilst undertaking this qualification.

PROGRESSION:

this qualification allows a learner to count towards the Level 2 ratio as a qualified Level 2 Early Years Practitioner across the Early Years Workforce.

Learners may work under supervision in a variety of roles such as:

• Nursery Assistant
• Classroom Assistant
• Preschool Assistant

Level 2 Diploma introducing caring for children and young people
A GUIDE TO THE QUALIFICATION

The Level 2 Diploma Introducing Caring for Children and Young People provides the learner with the opportunity to study a range of topics from three main areas child care and education, babysitting and parenting responsibilities.

The Diploma gives learners the opportunity to achieve a Certificate or two Award-sized qualifications (Level 2 Award in Babysitting and Level 2 Award in Preparation for the Responsibilities of Parenting) on the way. This offers the opportunity to be certificated for four qualifications in total.

Duration: 9-12 months

Placement: The Diploma contains optional units which are both knowledge- and skills based.

Progression:

On completion of the Diploma, learners can progress to the Level 2 Certificate for Children and Young Person’s Workforce and the Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (EYE).

Level 2 Diploma in Care
A GUIDE TO THE QUALIFICATION

This qualification will support learners to develop the knowledge and skills required to work in a range of clinical healthcare support settings and in adult care environments. The qualification is formed of mandatory and optional units. The mandatory units cover core competencies whilst the optional units allow learners to choose from a variety of areas to tailor the qualification to their needs, interests and to reflect the context of their work. It covers a wide range of areas including dementia awareness, mental health and well-being, supporting individuals with their physical and emotional care, daily living needs and health care procedures. The content is also aligned with the knowledge and skills required for the Adult Care Worker and Healthcare Support Worker apprenticeship standards.

Duration: 12-18 Months

Delivery: Blended classroom and online learning Available

Placement: Learners will need to be working, volunteering or on practical placement to be able to show competence in both knowledge and skills.

Units: Learners must achieve a minimum of 46 credits to gain this qualification. Learners must achieve 24 credits from the mandatory units and a minimum of 22 credits from the optional units. Progression:

The content of the qualification links with the knowledge and skills required for the Adult Care Worker and Healthcare Support Worker apprenticeship standards.

Upon completion, learners can enter either the adult care or health workforces in roles such as

• Personal assistant
• Units can also be used for continuing professional development in the learner’s chosen field.
